The Shriners Haunted Mansion

In 1999 London Illusionist Timothy Drake created the first annual Shriner's Haunted Mansion. Disappointed with the lack of family quality Halloween attractions found locally, Drake enlisted the help of friends, The London Shrine Club and local businesses to build an attraction that could be enjoyed by all ages.

For 8 years the Shriners Haunted Mansion presented 20000 sq ft of spooky state of the art special effects and illusions. It featured a full tour of a replicate Mansion interior occupied by holographic ghosts as well as a large similated outdoor graveyard area featuring animatronics, ponds, fountains, trees and a maze of caves.

Hidden behind the bookcase in the parlour was a secret passageway that led down darkened hallways and through a series of rooms filled with strange and eerie sights. It delivered frights of fun and not horror. Guests often found themselves jumping out of their skin only to laugh at what had just happened. ( Ghost Train..... anyone? )

Attendance the first year was 3500 but as years progressed attendance swelled to a record $18000 guests.Proceeds benefitted Childrens Hospital of Western Ontario ( London ).

In 2008 the building that hosted the Haunted Mansion each year was converted into a farmers market and was no longer available for rent resulting in the closing of Londons most popular Halloween Attraction. The option of bringing the Shriners Haunted Mansion to London for 2012 is being explored. You can stay updated by visiting the official blog for details.
